Bight Sportfishing was founded in 2011 as One-Man Charters. My toe dip into the charter world was on my days off as saltwater editor of Western Outdoor News. White sea bass charters were all I did, as offshore fishing was pretty much non-existent. After several seasons of taking one person on a 17-foot skiff, I purchased a new 23-foot Parker in 2013. In 2014 everything changed, with epic local white sea bass fishing dovetailing into the type of offshore bluefin tuna fishing we have come to expect. Two-hundred-plus pound bluefin tuna charters, trophy white sea bass charters, and California swordfish charters are our specialty.

Our fleet has changed and grown over the years. The current line-up is a pair of 28-foot Parker Pilothouses and a 34-foot Freeman Catamaran. We offer trips to San Diego, Orange, and Los Angeles counties, with Fisherman's Landing in San Diego being our home base for the Freeman and a 28 Parker.

We run more small boat charters than anyone in our landscape and pride ourselves on our success with white sea bass and swordfish—California's trickiest game fish.
